National Farmers Convene ’24 set for March 12 and 13 in Coralville, Iowa
(AMES, Iowa) February 15, 2024—National Farmers members will convene March 12-13 in Coralville, Iowa, to listen to nationally recognized speakers about the possibilities of a new Farm Bill this year, address changing ag weather conditions by improving their soil resiliency, and latest developments in genomic testing for beef and dairy cattle. Producers from more than 20 states will also learn the latest grain, dairy and cattle risk management and marketing opportunities to improve their profits.
National Farmers’ Convene ’24 opens March 12 with a 9 a.m. welcome reception at the Hyatt Hotel. In the evening, President Paul Olson, Taylor, Wisconsin, hosts the President’s Dessert Reception and speaks to members about agricultural issues impacting producers. National Farmers commodity division leaders also present young producer awards and Olson honors a member family with the President’s Award.
On March 13, it’s National Farmers Commodity Day, with presentations from the dairy, grain and livestock divisions. National Farmers Dairy Sales Director Dick Bylsma will speak about changes coming to the nation’s Federal Milk Marketing Orders system.
In the Grain Division, Theresa Seiler, Grain Marketing Plus representative, will discuss the 2024 outlook and strategies for pricing grain. Al Smith, National Farmers Crop Insurance agent, will highlight crop insurance trends and strategies for 2024. Mike Schulist, NForganics program manager, will discuss program growth and key challenges and opportunities in the organic grain sector.
For cattle producers, Livestock Director Pat Lampert and Contract Sales Manager Jeff Rose will discuss 2024 cattle market conditions, and what risk management steps members can take to protect their operations.
At the end of the convention on March 13, the Institute for Rural America hosts a benefit auction, which includes state-themed baskets. An evening dance and cocktail party begins at 7:30 p.m., with the band, Passion.
