2,500 Attend Members’ Dodge County Wisconsin Brunch

Dave and Kathleen Hafemeister, along with their children, Alayna and Ethan, hosted the Dodge County, Wisconsin Dairy Brunch on Sunday, June 2. “The Dodge County Dairy Promotion Committee had heard about our operation and how nice our farm is, so they asked to host it here,” said Dave Hafemeister.

Dave and Kathleen host tours and other events throughout the year so they try to keep the farm ready for special on-the-farm events. “First we got the field work out of the way as much as we could and then focused on sprucing up the yard,” said Dave. It was really gratifying to see all of the people come out to the farm to not only learn how a dairy farm operates and where their food comes from but also enjoy the day.

The Hafemeisters milk 135 Holsteins with two Lely Robotic Milkers they installed in 2014. The National Farmers member family also raise 120 heifers and grow their own corn, wheat, alfalfa and soybeans on 300 acres to feed the animals. They have one full time employee, Mike Roe, who also keeps a few of his own registered Holsteins in the herd.
Dave’s parents, Richard and Gloria, purchased the farm in 1978. They also hosted the Dodge County Dairy Brunch in 1982.

In 2010, Dave and Kathleen purchased the farm from Richard and Gloria.
